High School Rowing

The season starts on Monday, April 5th and finishes on Saturday, June 5th. 

The Spring Season requires no previous rowing experience. Rowers will learn the rowing stroke while developing leadership skills and teamwork. Rowers will challenge themselves physically and mentally within a strong team environment. 

Please carefully READ and COMPLETE the following. Failure to do so may put your participation in the program at risk.

In order to register for the Spring Season, you must complete the following steps:

  2. Review the Friends of Milton Crew COVID-19 Guidelines here.
  3. Upload a completed swim test found hereNew rowers only.
  4. Complete and upload NFHS Concussion Course Certificate found here. 
  5. Upload copy of a current physical (within 13 months) 
  6. Watch the USRowing Safety Video, found here.
  7. Sign the USRowing Waiver found here

  8. Agree to the Friends of Milton Crew Code of Conduct found here
  9. Sign the SafeSport Policy found here
  10. Sign the Medical Release
  11. Sign the COVID-19 Waiver
  12. Pay $450.00 though Family ID

Please note all registration forms must be completed in order to participate at practice. These items are required to ensure safety and compliance with governing associations. Thank you for your cooperation.

First day of practice: 
Monday, April 5th – 3:30pm at The Milton Landing (25 Wharf Street)

Novice Rowing (New Athletes)
Practice will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 3:30-5:30pm. Saturday practices will be determined by tide once the docks are in the water. Your coach will communicate practice information at the start of each week. 

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday – Milton Landing (25 Wharf Street)
    • Practice will consist of learning the rowing technique on stationary rowers (ergs) plus cardio & strength training.
  • Saturdays – Once the water training once the docks are in

There will be no regattas this season due COVID-19 guidelines. However, we may have an opportunity to race head to head against another school/team. More information to come once. Races will be for athletes only, no spectators.

Cancellation of practice
We practice outdoors in all weather, except active lightning storms or other extreme conditions. Because our weather changes rapidly, rowers should assume practice will be held regardless of the weather and dress appropriately, unless they are told by a member of the coaching staff that practice has been cancelled.

Due to the effects of COVID-19 on our program and the inability to hold normal programing for the past year, FOMC will be having a fundraiser this spring. Athletes will be expected to participate. More details to come.

Additional Information
Team size may be limited by our equipment and coaching resources, and safety consideration.

The first two weeks of practice in each season will serve as a try-out period. Any participant who is unable to continue in the program due to these restrictions after the try-out period will be refunded.

The Friends of Milton Crew Spring season participation fee is $450. Our fees cover only our operating costs including coaches’ salaries, gas for coaches’ launches, etc.

In the event of a cancelation of the season, please see the below refund policy. If the season is canceled:

  • Before the start on April 5th – A full refund will be given
  • Between April 5th and April 30th – A 50% refund will be given
  • After April 30th – No refund will be given
