Summer 2017 NRC JUNIORS Registration

Already completed Intro to Rowing? Your next step is Novice Sweeps. Expect to experience more of the grace and power of rowing as you work on skills and fitness. Participants should have successfully completed Intro to Rowing or have comparable experience and knowledge of safety protocol. In addition, athletes should be able to handle rowing equipment safely, get in and out of the boat, and understand how to handle boats and oars properly. A coach will always be nearby.

Experienced Athletes: if you love the raw power and excitement of 8s and 4s rowing, the camaraderie of a team environment, and the chance to work on your own technical goals, you’ll enjoy the summer program. Classes take place in the 8s/4s and consist of regular technical critique, drills, and consistent rowing designed to test skills and build fitness. There will not be set line-ups, but coaches will group similar ability levels together. It may be possible to participate in local sprint or head races.

Note – all registration materials must be completed by July 10th.

There will be 16 sessions. All sessions run from  5:30 – 7:00PM

July 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28
August 1, 2, 3, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18

AND . . . Please review the following important information.

Cancellation of practice
We practice in all weather except active lightning storms or other extreme conditions. Because our weather changes rapidly, rowers should assume practice will be held regardless of the weather and dress appropriately, unless they are told by a member of the coaching staff that practice has been cancelled.

The first two weeks of practice in each season will serve as a try-out period. Any participant who is unable to continue in the program due to these restrictions after the try-out period will be refunded.

Evaluation criteria include, among other things, a positive attitude, full participation in workouts, and the ability to pick up the fundamentals of the rowing stroke.

REFUND POLICY
Refunds will be given within the first two weeks due to injury, membership limits, or if a student decides the sport is not for him/her.

As a 501 (3) © organization, your contribution to Friends of Milton Crew is tax-deductible.
